I enjoyed searching tide pools for starfish and crabs, picking at shiny rocks and watching seagulls of every variety. We watched ducks swim in the ocean, yes finally, the real Atlantic Ocean.
The moment you step inside it is very clear — you realize this is very far from just another large house but in fact somewhere very special indeed. The entrance hall is a vision of turquoise and blue mosaic from floor to ceiling. Marble pillars and gold borders; a domed ceiling; sculptures and incredible attention to detail. It’s hard to know quite where to look first. Despite having visited a number of times, I am always thrilled by it.
The refuge is 43,000 acres of diverse habitat in the midst of three geologic zones that meet here. The rivers flow into the Red River basin or north and east toward the headwaters of Mississippi River basin and hosts over twenty named lakes and Eastern deciduous hardwoods, Northern coniferous forests and Western tall grass prairies.

Niagara Falls: this dream location has been featured in over 100+ TV shows and films. Both of our parents had visited the falls — we looked forward to walking in their footsteps as well as creating our own memories.
We arrived without any traffic queues on a Friday afternoon, made our way to our tent (we had hired one), rolled out our sleeping bags, had a quick cup of tea, brewed on our single gas burner, and then headed to the main stage.
