In an age where email, FB messenger, Whatsapp and whatever other form of digital communication takes your fancy, the hand written word can take second place. Today ‘thank you’s’ can be said or sent, with accompanying happy face emoji the moment a gift has been received. All of these are good, but for me nothing beats the pleasure of a hand written thank you.
If you are kind enough to read Changing Pages regularly, you will know there I love visiting art galleries, museums, exhibitions and the theatre. It goes without saying that I also love to attend any book related event or festival.
Resolutions seem to imply giving things up or not doing things. I have never found this approach overly helpful preferring to start the new year with a more positive approach and focus on what I want to do rather than what I don’t want to do!
There is absolutely nothing bah humbug about this book. Losing yourself in the magic and “Christmassyness” of it all is a wonderful addition to any Christmas reading traditions, and may just have become one of mine.
Netflix and amazon and all those other things that everyone has at the touch of a button or the swipe of a smart phone these days are all well and good but I still put a trip to the cinema high on my list of favorite, and in particular favorite autumn / winter things to do.
Belgrava certainly provides all the above and below stairs gossip and drama any period drama fan might be looking for.
